A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION HONORING "PERSPECTIVE ENTERTAINMENT" OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, AS THEY PRESENT "A NIGHT OF FAMILY HEALING" CONCERT AT JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY ATHLETIC AND ASSEMBLY CENTER ON MARCH 27, 1999.
WHEREAS, Perspective Entertainment was founded and organized in 1998 by Mr. Larry Armstrong, Mr. Tyrone Porter and Mr. Glen Russell; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Larry Armstrong was the host of the prevalent "Unity in Gospel Show" that aired consecutively through 1995, and is responsible for introducing many nationally known Gospel artists to viewers throughout the state and was recently honored at the 1998 American Gospel Quartet Convention as the "1998 Gospel Announcer of the Year"; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Tyrone Porter is a member of the nationally known Gospel artist, the Christianaires of Sontag, Mississippi, who has traveled many years throughout the state and to other countries sharing their ministry through music, and he is also chairman of the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Quartet Division; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Glen Russell is Chief Executive Officer and founder of Russell Construction, located in Sumrall, Mississippi. Russell Construction is recognized for outstanding and exceptional workmanship throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, we honor these men for the compassion and commitment expressed toward helping the citizens of this state: Perspective Entertainment's goal is to make "A Night of Family Healing" concert a positive and memorable event that will be cherished for many years to come. It is commendable that Perspective Entertainment acknowledges the many problems we face in this state. The effort put forth to assist families, communities and the Gospel music industry will bring a positive solution to a recurring problem. Perspective Entertainment acquired the participation and assistance of Mission Mississippi, who too shares similar concern about the needs of all people. A Night of Family Healing concert promises the very best from our local ministers, and inspirational Gospel music from nationally known Gospel artist, Evangelist Shirley Caesar of Durham, North Carolina. Mississippi will also showcase some of the state's finest nationally known Gospel artists such as: the Canton Spirituals of Canton, Mississippi; the Christianaires of Sontag, Mississippi; the William Brothers of Smithdale, Mississippi; David & the Giants of Laurel, Mississippi; Mr. Willie Clayton of Jackson, Mississippi; and also Mr. Jonathan Slocumb, Gospel comedian who will host "A Night of Family Healing" concert; and
WHEREAS, it is with great pride and respect that we honor Perspective Entertainment for true commitment and reverence shown toward the citizens of this state:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and honor Perspective Entertainment of Jackson, Mississippi, as they present "A Night of Family Healing" concert at Jackson State University Athletic and Assembly Center on March 27, 1999, and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Perspective Entertainment and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
